Read/Write directly from/to the media, no filesystem involved
Read/Write rates taken with a sample size of 4MB, 15366 samples

The test showed an average trasfer rate of 79.13MB/s (540x) read and 40.27MB/s (274x) write.

CF to SATA Adapter

The test setup:
PhotoFast GMonster 533x Professional CompactFlash 64GB, PF64G533
CF to SATA adapter with Marvell 88SA8040-TBC1 controller
ICH6R SATA Host
Read/Write directly from/to the media, no filesystem involved
Read/Write rates taken with a sample size of 4MB, 15366 samples

Important note: The CF SATA adapter logs in all UDMA-6 cards at UDMA-5 only, which seems to be the highest supported mode by the adapter. While UDMA-5 should still allow up to 95MB/s, there is already a significant loss in performance with this card.

The test showed an average rate of 69.07MB/s (471x) read and 45.02MB/s (307x) write.

CF PCIe x1 Reader

The test setup:
PhotoFast GMonster 533x Professional CompactFlash 64GB, PF64G533
Express/34 CF Adapter DR25, JMicron JMB368 Controller
Read/Write directly from/to the media, no filesystem involved
Read/Write rates taken with a sample size of 4MB, 15366 samples

The test showed an average trasfer rate of 84.91MB/s (579x) read and 48.67MB/s (332x) write.
