Singim SD/MMC Card Driver SG365S-R103

Although the name  » Singim  might be unknown for most people, many will have their product without knowing it. Singim is specialized on customizing their products with silk-screen print and laser engraving. The typical look of the Singim Card Drivers series is the closed shell and the cord with the keychain ring and the engraved/printed silver plate. Some of the brands using Singim Card Drivers are Sharkoon, extreMEmory, Kingston, takeMS, Pretec, C-enter and ATP. My rule is simple: If it is a sample, I use the given name, if I pay for it, I call it "Singim". I will prepare a summary listing all Singim models I know, later some time...

One of the first series SG365A is the  Pretec e-Disk II . The e-Disk II was labeled "SG365A", while other manufacturers use their own model numbers, and a few even paint over the Singim code on the PCB. The new version looks exactly like the old version, but uses a different controller, but you can't see which one you are buying.

The old SG365A used an Alcor Micro AU6333 underneath a black splot on the PCB, so there's not even a version number or production date visible. My e-Disk II has a QC sticker "11/2005" on the black splot, this date only translates into "no SDHC support". The new version uses a different controller underneath this black splot, mine has a QC sticker "06/2007". The controller identifies as Vid_090c&Pid_6000 which translates into Feiya Technology Corp., but this company merged with  » Silicon Motion  in the year 2002! The controller might be a SM331, since this is the only matching product on the website.

The performance of the new  SG365S-R103  is very good for both, SD and MMCplus, only old MMC 3.31 cards run at about 1.66MB/s, which is about 75% of the regular, and 65% of the overclocked MMC speed. Among the best results are the SanDisk Extreme III SD at 19.97MB/s read and 19.21MB/s write and the A-Data Turbo 200x MMCplus at 33.22MB/s read and 11.36MB/s write.
