Test Results | Read | Write
FireWire CF Reader | 34.26MB/s | 233x | 15.26MB/s | 104x
CF SATA Adapter | 34.22MB/s | 233x | 15.06MB/s | 102x |
The card is labeled 133x, and the results would be OK for a 133x card. But there is a press release stating 45MB/s read and 21.5MB/s write rate.
Important Note: This card shows very strange behaviour regarding the actual data that is written to the card. Writing only zeroes or only ones can be done at 24-25MB/s, similar data rates can be achieved with repeated byte patterns. But once irregular data is written, the transfer rate drops. Copying a large video file of about 600MB to the card resulted in a write rate of about 10MB/s.
This means that certain benchmark programs might report a higher write rate than the write rate stated here, but with random or even irregular data patterns, the stated rate is the maximum. It takes a little more than this to fool CARDSPEED!
The test setup:
Transcend Ultra Speed 133x CF, TS16GCF133
Hama 55352 CF FireWire reader, Oxford FW 912 controller
TI TSB82AA2/TSB81BA3 FireWire, TI OHCI 1394 Driver
Read/Write directly from/to the media, no filesystem involved
Read/Write rates taken with a sample size of 4MB, 3824 samples
The test showed an average trasfer rate of 34.26MB/s (233x) read and 15.26MB/s (104x) write.
The test setup:
Transcend Ultra Speed 133x CF, TS16GCF133
CF to SATA adapter with Marvell 88SA8040-TBC1 controller
ICH6R SATA Host
Read/Write directly from/to the media, no filesystem involved
Read/Write rates taken with a sample size of 4MB, 3824 samples
The test showed an average rate of 34.22MB/s (233x) read and 15.06MB/s (102x) write.
